Is it ok to give a 6 week old puppy a bath with dawn soap?

my pup needs a bathIs it ok to give a 6 week old puppy a bath with dawn soap?
No. He is way to young to be given a bath, not to mention with dawn soap.

The puppy shouldn't even be away from his mother yet. (At 8 weeks old is the right time) When the puppy is old enough for a bath, make sure you use specialized dog shampoo. Is it ok to give a 6 week old puppy a bath with dawn soap?
warm water will be sufficient

ensure the right temp as dogs have a higer temp than ours at 101
It is best that you buy puppy or baby shampoo for your puppy, Dawn Soap will dry the skin out.
OK, listen, it is not ok to bath your puppy with any human products as they are not supposed to be tested on animals! Go to the Wal-Mart or your local pet store and buy some puppy shampoo! It isn't that expensive and is a lot safer for your Puppy. If you LOVE your Puppy do not use human product on your Puppy, it might make him or her get eye or ear infections, dandruff, lumps of sebacious build up on their skin, pimples and God knows what else. Puppy shampoos are formulated for puppies and may also have a flea deterrent in it or additives for shiny coats etc... check them out and get what you want, they even have special shampoos and soaps for male dogs and female dogs, you can make him smell MACK'IN or make her smell like Daisies!
no only dogs shampoo is fomulated for dogs

if u gave him or her dawn their skin would maybe get rashy

so i'd say go buy him or her puppy shampoo
no, the soap could get it sick, you should just buy puppy shampoo, it only coasts $1 at the dollar store! ^.^
At that age I wouldn't recommend it because your baby is too young for one. Two you have to use puppy shampoo because the skin is so sensitive when they are young and even after. You don't want to dry the skin worse with dish soap. No way!! They even tell you not to use human shampoo because it isn't made for dogs. when old enough I would suggest getting a good shampoo for a dog and conditioner too. You didn't say what type of puppy you have and they all have different types of hair. Good luck and have fun bathing your baby.
never use a dishwashing soap. they are designed to remove oils and grease doing this you remove all the natural oils that the are produced. over the years we have learned to use a gentile baby shampoo on our younger puppies. they too do not sit still. why does your pup need a bath?
Dawn dishwashing liquid should only be used for fleas and always diluted....6 week old pups do sometimes get dirty but stepping or laying in their own feces/urine so a bath is sometimes necessary.....I would try just lukewarm water and wiping with your hands or get a puppy shampoo...make sure they have a warm area to dry......when I bathe any dog, I put a little shampoo in a spare bottle and then add some warm water...it is just a effective and not near as hard to rinse off....make sure the pup is rinsed well or the residue could cause itchy skin and as someone already mentioned, do not let him lick or drink the bathing water.....
I wouldn't use Dawn-you should really get dog shampoo.
Being a vet med major and having worked in a vets office for a few years now the ONLY reason to use a dish soap like dawn on a puppy would be because they 1) got into something that is oily and wont wash off with regular puppy shampoo and 2) will cause them harm if not washed off quickly.

We recently had a puppy brought in that the owners, who didn't speak english, basically killed. They had bought Heartz flea medication at the store for a 45-80 pound dog. They put the entire box, I believe 4 vials, on the puppy as well as 2 flea collars. In that case, even though we had puppy shampoo in the hospital, we used Dawn to clean the puppy as regular puppy shampoo wouldn't get the stuff off fast enough.
Just go to PetSmart or WalMart and buy some cheap dog shampoo, it'll be better for the dogs hair. And MAKE SURE you don't get it near the puppies ears or face! I would just clean him from the neck down and then use a washcloth with only water (and no soap) to wipe off the head and face. Good luck!
Unless the pup in flea infested then no. Get some puppy shampoo and use that on this young pup.
Ask advice from a professional vet! don't trust advise from strangers!
no, get a hypo allergenic soap easy on puppy skin.
I wouldn't. I would suggest using wipes they specifically make for cleansing animals (they're like baby wipes but for pets). They sell them in the grocery store or at a pet store.
NO NO NO! You should not even bath a puppy until it is 8-12 weeks old. The momma dog should still keep the dog clean enough. It would be way to strong for the puppy. They have puppy shampoo when you do bath the puppy.
Most soaps that are not meant

for puppies , will not kill them,

but will severely dry out their coats.

It is however, very harmful to their

eyes and never let them lick it,

or drink the water it is in. If he just

played in the mud, it's okay to just

rinse him off, in warm water. Making

sure, whenever you bathe your dog,

never let the water get into his ears.
Well he should still be with his mom, he is too young to be away from the litter yet.. He shouldn't smell, why is he smelling?? Why do you think he needs a bath??

He is too young to bath.. Wait til he is at very very least 8 weeks of age, 10 is better.. Do it on a day that is nice and sunny and warm, and make sure that he is dry and there is no chance of a chill...
no. go to the pet store and get puppy shampoo. dawn soap is too strong for any dogs skin.
Unless your dog has fleas ..no need to bathe %26amp; IF you do need to wash or bathe buy animal shampoo or wipes it will say on the items SAFE FOR PUPPIES or you could make your dog sick, cause it skin problems or even death !! But use ONLY ANIMAL SHAMPOOS for puppies ! Animals lick themselves, meaning they will also swallow whatever is on their fur too !! You can also ask your vet for suggestions !
no it could be dangerous
