My dog ate half a bar of bath soap -- again!?

He did this 7-8 years ago ... then today he stole a bar of soap from a grocery bag and ate half of it. Anything to worry about? He seems fine. He's an older lab mix. A bit overweight, but extremely healthy.My dog ate half a bar of bath soap -- again!?

Your dog might like the smell or the salt, oils or fat in the soap. He probably thinks it's food or an interesting chew toy treat. Some dogs vomit or have diarrhea after eating soap, but some don't have any reactions. I wouldn't worry. It sounds like your dog is perfectly okay. Just as a precaution, keep an eye on him the next day or so. If he does start having problems, especially since your dog is older, you could call your vet and see what they say.
That is so funny, your dog ate soap...silly doggie! Yes, probably going to have upset stomach, diarrhea (yuck!) then again, maybe not! I had a toy poodle that ate a pound of butter and a half of an apple pie and burped and that was it!
He will be pooping bubbles! Hopefully he chewed it up well. My dog ate a downspout, an Nintendo DS, some games for it, a happy meal toy and some nerf darts. All in a few days. He was pooping circuits but all is well.

When mine was a puppy (we had two then) they ate half the bottle of puppy shampoo...I was kinda freaked out but they lived. Did you google it or call the doc? Hey - at least he'll be squeaky clean...just watch for bubbles coming out of either end.
i would CALL the vet and see what they say ... my dog ate a battery and she is okay (wee got it out) ... but you should still CALL the vet :-)
he will probably have diarrhea but if it lasts for more than 24 hours then take him to the vet..
