If a horse has too many baths with soap, can it cause chafing and girth rubs?

I just found out that someone has been taking my horse out and Bathing him ? when I am not there. If a horse has too many baths with soap, can it cause chafing and girth rubs?
Yeah it can dry out the horses skin, horse's have oils in their coat that keep the skin hydrated. So too much bathing, using soap every time can dry out the skin causing chafing, as well as if the person doesn't bother to get all the soap rinsed out of your horse's coat. I would have a talk with this person/your barn owner and ask them to please stop bathing your horse, and that when he needs it you will do it yourself. Be sure to thank them for the effort, but that they need to stop bathing your horse without your permission first.

Just approach the person and tell them that frankly they shouldn't be bathing your horse without you knowing it. Be sure that they know that your horse's skin is chaffing because of too much bathing (maybe even show them what is happening), and that you would really like it if they stopped bathing your horse. Be sure that at the end of that talk that you tell them that you really appreciated the thoughtfullness of bathing your horse for you, but that you can handle it from now on. And just be really chill about the whole thing, the last thing that person needs is someone coming up and getting mad at them for something they thought they were doing to be nice. Don't get mad, use an even tone that sounds calm and comforting and set the situation straight. If a horse has too many baths with soap, can it cause chafing and girth rubs?
Most definetly. It can with any animal including people! Well...not girth rubs lol but the chafing, dry skin. Or it can causes excessively oily skin.

A good rinse off after rides, etc is always fine but you rarely need to use anything along with the water. And if you use soap, use one that is meant for horses. Aka not real soap, but like a shampoo/conditioner and low chemical content. (I like eZall)

Id definetly find out who was doing it and why, and make them stop. Im not sure of your circumstances, but I dont think thats really allowed anyway without your permission.
Yes. Excessive bathing (with or without soap) removes the natural oil in a horse's coat and can lead to dry skin. Drier skin would be more likely to chafe.
well yes. It can take the natural oils out of the skin. Rinsing the horse properly will help.
It removes the natural oils and can irritate your horses skin. Make sure that person stops.
