How do you make homemade soap (for baths and shampoo)?

Essentially, you take beef or Deer Tallow, boil it in a mixture of about 4 to 1 tallow to water and add lye to congela the mixture when it's boiling. Continue boiling for an hour or two and let it set overnight to harden. Cut into bar sized cakes and you have homemeade soap. It's kind of harsh and has a slight odor to it but if you soften it with warm water and add essential oils and use herbal Tea rather than water it will smell a lot better and be a lot healthier for your skin.

By the way, the boiling part is VERY smelly and you should do it outside or in a well aired kitechen to allow the smell to get out of the house.

You have come to the right place, Rae.

I blogged about ';the great soap making adventure'; back in February this year.

The story takes a full blog, but it is worth reading if your interested, including a photo.

Check it out when you have a bit of time.

The soap making adventure was taking forever, so my bro-in-law wanted to speed up the process.

Does anyone know what happens when you put a bar of hand soap in the microwave and turn it on???

Well, I am here to tell you!!!

I am now an expert on that subject. It swells up like a giant mushroom and explodes!

The ';cherry on top'; is an incredible soap-making disaster photograph, proving it's no lie!

It took 24 hours to do, so forgive the story being long...but it is pretty funny too!!!
