Does sunscreen get absorbed in the skin and continue to give protection after it is washed off with soap and water.
Why does it say one should apply the lotion 45 minutes before going out in the sun?Does sun screen lotion continue to give protection after a bath using soap?
No. You wash the protecting part off, at least most part. It is the film on the outside that filters the UV. Just go under black-light and look how good you applied the stuff.
Some ingredients are in your sunscreen to pamper your skin like moisturizers and stuff. They get in, protection stays on top. I'm amazed how the stuff knows how to split itself...oh well. That's what they say happens.
Depending on what sunscreen you use it indeed needs 'activation time' though there are some that work instantly like some new spray on types.
There are also brands around that work differently, they make the skin take care of itself by allowing it to tan fast so it can do what it's made for. Your tan is nature's way of protecting you.Does sun screen lotion continue to give protection after a bath using soap?
No, as per the directions ON THE BOTTLE you must reapply.
And if your read the bottle enough to know that you should apply 45 minutes before going out, you would know that.
You have to apply it early becaue the silver oxide has to have a chance to align its molecules in the cream that you just put on.
soap is quite harsh and would remove sunscreen. Most sunscreens say u must re apply through the day as well as after swimming. This is because of UV rays which can damage your skin and cause skin cancer. Suncreen is supposed to form a layer or barrier between your skin and the Uv rays.
